Coup D'Etat !

A “Stroke of State’ as the French would translate it, is the sudden overthrow of a government. Often a Coup will occur from within the government itself, as opposed to a revolution, which is initiated by the people or population being governed. Armed forces or military strength can often be components of a Coup D’Etat as the possessor takes power. Many known Coups have occurred throughout history, and arguably hundreds over the last 50 years of rule in many regions of Africa.
